Complete Lifestyle Photography bio picture

A brief history...

Thank you for taking the time to come and look at my work.  This is my passion, its all I have ever known.  Most text books will tell you that a bio should be written in the 3rd person, thats just not me.  I am personable, I am interested in you and I want you to be interested in me.  Writing about my life in the 3rd person just doesn't seem to make sense if we want to be friends.  I graduated from Fitchburg State College in 2001 with a degree in communications media.  I'd like to say I never use what I learned in school, but it just wouldn't be true.

I received a very classical technical education in photography, I learned about FILM.  I have translated that knowledge across the digital divide and now throughly enjoy the new media that is digital photography.  But frankly I care less about pixels and more about people.  I try to tell a story with each assignment, with each image.  Thats the beauty of a photograph, its just a moment that would have passed by so quickly that you might not have even seen it... but now you can look at it and remember those feelings anytime you wish.

That is my mission, to make those fleeting moments stand for all eternity.  To share with future generations.  I can't wait to meet and talk about your event weather its a wedding, bar/bat mitzvah or a family portrait...

Nonantum wedding…

If your first question to yourself when reading the title of this post is, has he gone off his meds, what on earth is a Nonantum, well… I’ll explain.

The Nonatum Resort is an amazing little spot right on the water right outside of Kennebunkport ME. Yes that Kennebunkport that is famous for Bush 41’s summer home…

Well this bride and groom spent quite a while looking for places to have their reception and after an exhaustive search of the area this was the spot. The kitchen even accommodated them making several family recipes for the dinner, now that is really cool.

After we finished getting ready, this couple alloted about an hour with me to go for a little adventure. We scurried up the coast a bit to find some spots out of the wind to do some bridal portraits.

After portraits and a light snack, we ventured off to the church. It was the beautiful historic church in the center of Wells ME. After a beautiful ceremony the bride and groom took off in a “special” limo.

I easily could have put 20 images up on this wedding alone, but I had to edit to tell a story… Part of that story involves the “shot ski.” If you say it fast enough shotski you think I am talking about a older Polish gentleman, not the case. This is a tradition amongst skiiers, and this is a family of powder hounds…

Yes that is the bride with the grooms brothers doing a shot. As the story goes at the engagement party she drank them under the table on that thing. Made her an instant hit in the family!

Well this could go on and on and on, I had so much fun with this couple! But I will leave you with a perfect end to a perfect day…

Fusion is here!

[vimeo 6387837]

I have been tinkering with my D90 for the past 6 months and for the life of me I really didn’t think that “fusion” was anything to get worked up about. So after several personal projects I decided to really test this out on a wedding. Mind you the couple had NO IDEA why I kept asking them to stop walk this way, stop take 2 etc. Well this is the final product, I feel its a good representation of a lifestyle relaxed fusion piece. Its slanted towards still images and I am OK with that.

I believe this will become popular, that blending of the traditional still image and the video is possible. It does require effort on both the part of the person making the video and the people in the video. However, when we collaborate we tend to get a result beyond our own imagination… so I present lifestyle fusion. Update*** this piece will be re-edited after consulting with some people on the DWF, stay tuned!

A lakeside affair…

I met this lovely couple several times before their wedding to chat, to shoot etc. Each time the were both so soft spoken, but so into each other. I was really unsure how they would be on their wedding day… What would the stress of the wedding day do to them? Well to my surprise the pressure and excitement of their day brought out their true personalities! They were so excited, so full of that nervous happy energy it was infectious. From the bride crying as her mom presented her a charm from her grandmother to be worn on her dress; to the rockin’ party complete with a limbo contest! This wedding had it all…

A not so traditional affair…

This was my first Portuguese wedding in a LONG time. There are several customs and traditions that happen during the day that were unfamiliar to me, including the bride cutting a ribbon on her front porch. I jokingly said, “so that means she’s done, gone, see ya honey!” to her father. and with a straight face, “yep.” the bride was a little shocked by this, apparently nobody told her!

The not so secret garden…

This was a pretty cool wedding.  Clients of mine (who’s wedding I have not shot yet mind you) called me 4 days before this couple was to get married and asked if i was available.  They wanted to give me as a gift to them!  Well needless to say I got the real gift of spending time with them on their wedding day.  This intimate affair took place at Tarbin Gardens in Franklin NH.  This gorgeous out of the way spot is one of those little NH gems.  It was truly my pleasure to spend time with them, get to know them and take some amazing pictures…

The castle in the clouds…

I was back in NY 2 weeks ago (yes this is the 2nd post in this weekend of amazing skys), for a wedding of a colleague.  My friend Davitte of DTV Productions brought me in to do stills for this sweet couple.  It was at Le Chateu in South Salem NY, Maira Ortiz did an amazing makeup job (the lovely wife of Davitte).  Le Chateau sits on the side of a hill so we were very elevated and it made our sunset one of the best I have ever seen.   This couple got the very best mother nature has offered in 2009…
