A little fun, and some Big Air…

As many of you may or may not know this winter I have not had many events to photograph. As a result I have been working as a ski instructor at Pats Peak, in Henniker NH.

It has not only been a lot of fun, it has been a great mini break from photography. Well when I saw the signs for the Big Air Competition 2010 I thought, hey why not take some pictures of these amazing athletes jumping way up into the air. And dontchaknow… it was FUN!

Images For A Cure…

Many of you have seen my Face Book updates about #ImagesForACure a grass roots movement started by Kristen Weaver. This simple little project is designed to bring awareness to a disease and to bring people together.

On October 11th, 2009 over 80 photographers in 31 states and 2 countries are participating in this event. Its very simple, contact me to setup a time to shoot, then go to Schedule a Session, they are taking care of the financial aspect of the day, its very cool. My session fee for the day is $125 for a 45 minute portrait session, after you donate forward the confirmation email to me, and away we go! All products purchased from Images For A Cure sessions are 20% off.

It is entirely up to you!

One special thing I am doing as part of this project is pet sessions. Because of shooting location restraints it will be limited to dogs this time. But I believe each and ever member of your family is worth of being photographed… so bring out, fido, max or daisy!

Lastly for you seniors out there, if you haven’t done your senior portrait this is an excellent opportunity! The fall deadlines for many schools are fast approaching!

Fusion is here!

I have been tinkering with my D90 for the past 6 months and for the life of me I really didn’t think that “fusion” was anything to get worked up about. So after several personal projects I decided to really test this out on a wedding. Mind you the couple had NO IDEA why I kept asking them to stop walk this way, stop take 2 etc. Well this is the final product, I feel its a good representation of a lifestyle relaxed fusion piece. Its slanted towards still images and I am OK with that.

I believe this will become popular, that blending of the traditional still image and the video is possible. It does require effort on both the part of the person making the video and the people in the video. However, when we collaborate we tend to get a result beyond our own imagination… so I present lifestyle fusion. Update*** this piece will be re-edited after consulting with some people on the DWF, stay tuned!

Some fun while working…

Recently while on a job I had a brainstorm. The room that was being used as the ceremony had to be flipped into the party room. Not an uncommon occurance at all but I had seen the decorations; I knew it was going to be an amazing room. So during cocktail I put a camera on a tripod and documented the staff flipping the room.

I have been inspired by food tv for years. I love to cook and to expirement with food to the delight (usually) of family and friends. I have always been facinated with glass blowing and art but know i’ll never have the space for a forge at home. well there is another substance in food that shares the similar properties of glass, SUGAR!

so i took a class in how to make sugar sculpture and these were my pieces… hopefully in the future there will be more!

Brooklyn Bridge at 125

Today is the brooklyn bridge’s 125th anniversary. I didn’t know this until after dinner and fireworks. they are lighting up the bridge with all kinds of cinema lights etc and i raced home to get a shot from the roof. i’ll have a bigger better one this weekend.
